“I’ll never forget that beautiful experience”

There’s always the opportunity to remember good times thanks to the mission work, as a teacher at the MTC I met many missionaries that until today I maintain contact and gladly to know about their progress. This week I want you to know Larissa dos Santos Silberman from Sao Paulo, Brazil, who encouraged to tell us a little bit of her missionary experience in Chile.

“I served in Rancagua Mission, Chile, from December 2014 ‘til June 2016 with President Thomas Wane. Been a missionary in Chile was the most rich experience in my life, I got to know (in a more personal way) about Jesus Christ and serving to others changed forever my heart, I learned to forget about myself and that my will was immersed by the will of God. It was a privileged to have serve the Chilean people, I met wonderful persons and that they still are an example to me and I feel blessed to have served in Chile.

My biggest challenged was to find people to teach, people works a lot and sometimes in different turns between the weekends, so it was difficult to find people that could receive us constantly.

Not everything was bad or hard but I had many experience that marked me but the most special was on my last Saturday in the mission 4 th of June 2016, Carlos and Mariela where sealed at the temple. I met them while I was serving in Machalí, Carlos was an investigator and Mariela was a less active, we worked with them until Carlos got baptized and Mariela was activated in the Church. A year later they were sealing at the temple and I felt so much happiness and love in my heart that day. I’ll never forget that beautiful experience.

I try to maintain contact with the people that I met on the mission, by Facebook, Whatsapp or Instagram and I feel responsible of keeping their trust. I would like to have more time to contact them but I’m still happy with the relationship that I have with them. I loved the weather and the food in Chile, I gain like 15 kg or 33 pounds haha and I loved to walked the streets, see the mountain with snow, the spring and autumn are beautiful and the people always received us with delicious food.

While I was serving in Chile I loved to write my experience to my family and friends, to see that my stories and miracles were also helping them, it was a motivation to go forward even in the hardest time. Many times I felt strengthen and I knew it was because they were praying for me.

At the end of my mission I decided to be graceful for my many blessing that I had received and I would continue to serve on the Lords work, today I work at the MTC of Brazil and that has helped me a lot because it reminds me daily of the services I did as a missionary. I keep doing the simple things every day and trying to be like Christ in each moment of my life.”

“Nunca olvidaré esa hermosa experiencia”

Siempre nace la oportunidad de recordar buenos tiempos gracias a la obra misional, como maestra del CCM conocí a muchos misioneros que hasta el día de hoy mantengo contacto y me alegra saber de su progreso. Esta semana quiero que conozcan a  Larissa dos Santos Silberman de Sao Paulo, Brasil, quien se animó a contarnos un poco de su experiencia misional en Chile.

“Serví en la Misión Chile Rancagua desde Diciembre del 2014 hasta Junio del 2016 con el  Presidente Thomas Warne. Ser misionera en Chile fue la más rica experiencia de mi vida, logré conocer a Jesucristo de una manera muy personal y el servicio a los demás cambió para siempre mi corazón, aprendí a olvidarme de mi misma y que mi voluntad fuera absorbida por la voluntad de Dios. Fue un privilegio servir al pueblo chileno, conocí personas increíbles y que todavía son un gran ejemplo para mi, me siento bendecida por haber servido en Chile.

Mi mayor desafío fue encontrar personas para enseñar, los chilenos trabajan mucho y muchas veces en turnos distintos cada semana, entonces era muy difícil encontrar personas que podrían recibirnos asiduamente.

No todo es malo o difícil, tuve muchas experiencias que me marcaron pero la más especial fue mi último sábado en la misión, el día 4 de junio 2015 Carlos y Mariela se sellaron en el templo. Los conocí mientras servía en Machali, Carlos era investigador y Mariela miembro menos activa, trabajamos con ellos hasta que Carlos se bautizó y Mariela se activó en la Iglesia, un año después ellos se estaban sellando en el templo y yo sentí tanta alegría, y amor en mi corazón ese día. Nunca olvidaré esa hermosa experiencia.

Trato de mantener contacto con las personas que conocí en la misión, ya sea por Facebook, whatsapp o Instagram y me siento responsable en seguir teniendo la confianza de ellos. Me gustaría tener más tiempo para contactarlos pero igual estoy feliz con la relación que todavía tengo con ellos.

Me encanto el clima y la comida en Chile, subí unos 15 kilos en la misión jaja me encantaba caminar por las calles y ver las montañas con nieve, la primavera y otoño son hermosos, y la gente siempre nos recibía con comida rica.

Mientras servía en Chile me encantaba escribir mis experiencia a mi familia y amigos, ver que también estaba ayudando a ellos por medio de mis historias y milagros, era una motivación para seguir adelante hasta en los momentos difíciles. Muchas veces me sentí fortalecida y sabía que era porque ellos estaban orando por mi.

Al fin de mi misión decidí que para agradecer por tantas bendiciones que había recibido, seguiría sirviendo en la obra del Señor, hoy trabajo en el CCM  de Brasil y eso me ha ayudado mucho porque me hace recordar diariamente mi servicio como misionera. Sigo haciendo las cosas sencillas cada día y tratando de ser como Cristo en cada momento.”
